UPCOMING EVENTS
July and August: T.B.A. We will have a member demo night at one
of these meetings (probably July). Members wishing to participate should
contact Bob Urso. We would like some "new blood" this time.
I know we have a lot of talent among our club members, but the same people
are participating every time we do this popular event. Please share your
skills with fellow club members.
Expo 2000
Sports Plus Exhibition Center
Nesconsett Highway (Route 347) & New Moriches Road
Lake Grove, Long Island, NY
June 3-4, 2000, 10am to 5pm
Admission $5 (Children under 12, free)
When you receive this newsletter, our 5th annual show will be just a
few days away. Preparation is ongoing and coming along well, but we can
still use as much help as possible. Contact any committee member if you
can participate. Come and help out, and plan on spending the rest of the
day at the show. There will be things to do and see all day. Remember
to support our commercial vendors. Without their support this show would
not take place, and without you supporting them it will not continue to
happen. They should leave here wanting to come back next year, and it
is up to us to make that happen. It is possible to order merchandise from
vendors by phone before the show and to have them bring the items to the
Expo for delivery. Constantine's has specifically made this offer available
to us, but other vendors should be willing to provide the same service.
Along with the vendors, the L.I. Woodturners club and the L.I. Carvers
club will join us.

volunteer slot.
Tool Garage Sale
Sell your used tools and buy a new one at the show. Same commission and
work requirements as the woodcraft sale area.
Toy Workshop
Toys will be made on site and will be donated to charity. Thanks to J&A
Lumber of Bohemia for donating lumber and DeWalt for tools used during
this event.
Demonstrations
These will be ongoing all day and will include turning, carving, scroll-sawing,
and hand and machine tool demonstrations. Thanks to Jet for supplying
the lathes for this area. In addition, we will have an operating sawmill
outside the main entrance.
Special Guest: Mario Rodriguez
Door Prizes
Hourly door prizes will be awarded to paid participants.
Raffle
We have three cash raffle prizes. They are a 3hp. Router Donated by DeWalt,
a Compound Miter Saw Donated by DeWalt, and a Lie-Nielsen #4 Bronze Plane
(includes one hour of one-on-one instruction with Mario Rodriguez).
Set-up Info
As of this writing, we will be setting up the hall on Friday afternoon
and allowing members exhibits on Saturday morning. We may be allowed to
start much earlier, but that decision will not be made until after this
newsletter goes to print. Check our website, http://www.liwoodworkers.org
, or contact a committee member for up-to-date information.
Pleas remember that although our show is much larger this year, space
is valuable. If you indicated that you would participate, please honor
that commitment. Thanks.
See you at the show.
