The exhibition commitee is on a roll. Several new vendors have signed
up, and it looks as if the new plan will be on firm ground. An exhibition
like this has never been held in Suffolk County. I remember many years
back there was one held in the Nassau Coliseum, but that was the last
I can recall. Does this mean that we, the members, should sit back and
watch the results? I don't think so! W have long outgrown the barn. Nothing
that has life remains static. We are always challenged to improve. By
virtue of our own hobby or vocation we involve ourselves in that very
same quest.
What can we possibly gain by this exhibition? For one thing, community
recognition. Then there is recognition from our peers, those who have
yet to hear of our club. Then we may be able to impress those with an
esthetic approach who regard woodworking as an art form. We can't ignore
those businesses involved woodworking supplies. Finally, there are members
who could use this exhibition to launch their careers in woodworking as
a result of their first sale or compliments on their work.
So let's set our trepidations aside and help this effort by volunteering
a few hours at the show and by bringing to the exhibition some of those
woodworking pieces we gloat over at home. This exhibition is ours; let's
make it a happening.
