I would like to thank Brian Hayward for sending information regarding Ian Kirby's web-site ( http://www.kirbystudios.com ).

The site connects with the Woodworkers Club in Norwalk, CT, where Ian, who has been a good friend to our club, and other craftsmen give courses on a regular basis. The schedule for this February is as follows:

Feb. 4-6, 19-20 (also March 4-5, 18-19): Carousel Carving with Dana Mitteer
Feb. 9: Sharpening with John Matchak
Feb. 11: Pen Turning with Andy Orr
Feb. 12 & 13: Plane Craft
Feb. 15 & 17: Router Table Top
Feb. 23: Make a Child's Growth Chart
Feb. 26 & 27: Carve a Totem Pole Bear or Thunderbird
Feb. 22, 24, 29 & March 1: Build a Candle Stand Table

Brian also provided information about some courses not listed on the website at present. For example, there will be courses for "Absolute Beginners" and a course on building "Low-Tech Indoor Furniture". Costs vary, but, for example, the course on the Router Table Top, which will be given from 7 to 9 p.m., is priced at $140 for members of the Norwalk Woodworkers Club and $150 for non-members. Materials are included.

Visit the website if you can. If not, call Kirby Studios at (800) 238-7724 for information.
