This is my first article as President, and I'd like to wish you all a
Happy New Year. I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season with family
and friends and not making New Year's resolutions you can't keep. One
resolution could be that you'll finish that project you started last year,
which is sitting in some corner gathering dust and not sawdust.
Maybe it doesn't need saying, but I'll say it anyway - this past Toys
For Tots was outstanding, clearly the best yet. The quantity and quality
of the toys were exceptional. I'm sure the toys will brighten the life
of a whole bunch of kids. You can't find this stuff at the likes of Toys
'R' Us or Wal-Mart. If you do, you're going to spend big bucks. Thank
you all for a great turnout.
Now let's get down to the business of woodworking. There are those of
us who are not experienced in the craft of woodworking. Some would be
very happy just to stand around your shop as you work on a project. We
could be there to hand you a tool, help you clamp something as you glue
up, or maybe even help you clean up. If you think you made those kids
happy with those toys, well, check the grin on the lucky guy who can watch
you work. Volunteer.
Keep your tools, mind and spirt sharp.
