The Long Island Cabinetmakers |

| The Long Island Cabinetmakers (LIC) was founded in 2006 and is a Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Long Island Woodworkers and all members of LIC must also belong to the Long Island Woodworkers.
Membership is open to persons of all skill
levels, from beginners to professional.
The LIC objectives are similar to those of its parent organization, the LIWC, and expand on those particular to cabinetmaking, cabinetry, and related topics.
Meetings feature guest speakers as well as club members who share their expertise. Topics cover the range of drawing your project to building and finishing it.

The LIC meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM from January to December. The meetings are held at the American Legion Hall,
20 Thompson St, Kings Park, NY 11754. (631) 269-4140

| January 8,2008 |
Mike Daum will help us finish our full scale plans and show us how to prepare material and cut lists from these plans. Please bring to the meeting your initial full scale drawings (this is your “Homework” from last meeting), straight edges & pencils. The last portion of our meeting will have hands on presentation on biscuit joinery by our secretary Steve Blakley. |
| February 12,2008 |
Mike Daum will talk about carcass construction & assembly, will give us some construction tips, talk about some cutting techniques (ripping, cross cutting) and will discuss glue & screw joints. We will have some hands on presentations on some of these items |
| March 11, 2008 | =
Charlie James will present mortise and tenon joinery. He will show how to make hand made mortise & tenon joints and also how to use a table saw or router to make these joints. Starting from this meeting you are all encouraged to bring your ongoing projects, provide a status report and discuss any questions that you may have on your ongoing project. |
| April 8, 2008 |
Mike Daum will present frame joints, rabbets, dados & groves and will have hands on demonstrations of one or more of these joint techniques. Again, please remember to bring your ongoing projects, so we can discuss them together and talk about any challenges or accomplishments that you had. |
